Before leaving for the summer, a Lakewood Ranch, FL family called BIC Cleaning and Coatings to take care of their paver pool dexk so it would be ready when they return. The project focused on paver cleaning and sealing, with a specific emphasis on re-sanding the joints using our hydro compacting technique and then sealing the surface to stabilize the installation.

We started by cleaning the pavers to remove loose debris and any material that would prevent the new joint sand from settling properly. Once the surface was clean, we applied joint sand between the pavers and used hydro compacting to work that sand tightly into the joints. Hydro compacting uses water pressure to settle the sand so it locks into place, which reassures homeowners that the sand will stay put rather than washing out.

After the hydro compacting, the sand was allowed to dry. Letting the sand dry before the next step is important because it ensures the joint material is stable when we apply the sealer. Once the joints had set up, we returned to apply a urethane sealer, mixed with a harder additive as specified for this job. The sealer product and the harder component were applied to stabilize the joints and the overall paver installation, helping to keep the sand in place and reduce movement over time.

Part of the scope also included protecting the paver base from rain. The urethane sealer helps shed water away from the paver base and toward the drain, which reduces the chance of rain washing out the base material underneath the pavers and creating a weak foundation. To support that function, we also cleared out the drain so water can flow freely away from the paved area.

This combination of cleaning, hydro compacting of joint sand, allowing the sand to dry, then applying a urethane sealer with a harder, delivers a more stable paver surface that handles water better. The family left for the summer confident their pavers were secured and their drainage was cleared, and BIC Cleaning And Coatings completed the job in Lakewood Ranch, FL with those priorities in mind.
