After completing two neighboring driveways in the Waterside community of Lakewood Ranch, FL, BIC Cleaning And Coatings was asked by a third neighbor to provide an estimate to restore her Driveway and Lanai pavers that had heavy weed growth and surface algae. The estimate also included cleaning the pool cage and removing webs and bugs with a cobweb brush, which the homeowner appreciated. She accepted the proposal and we scheduled the work promptly.

On the day of the project our crew began with a thorough cleaning of the driveway and pool deck pavers. We used a Turbo tip on the pressure washer to remove deep-rooted weeds after we applied a solution of chlorine and surfactant to the vegetation areas to deep kill the roots. We allowed that treatment to sit for about 20 to 30 minutes so it could penetrate the root system before rinsing.

Following the dwell time we pressure washed the entire area, including the lanai and driveway, removing loosened organic material and algae. The pool cage was cleaned at the same time, and we removed spider webs and insect debris with the cobweb brush so the enclosure looked refreshed as well. The pressure washing step cleaned out the joints and prepared the surface for sand stabilization.

After rinsing, we wet sanded the paver joints to compact the sand tightly between the joints. Compacting the sand helps reduce pockets where weeds can take hold and strengthens the overall surface. We took care to work the sand into all joints so the paver field had an even level and consistent joint support.

We returned the following day to follow up. Our crew swept and blew off the pavers to remove any excess sand that had migrated during the initial drying. Once we were satisfied with the sand level throughout the joints, we applied a saturation coat of Sealthane Wet Look with a hardener. That coat saturates the sand and paver surface, and the hardener helps lock the sand in place to deter weed growth and mold return.
