Beautiful shine as requested by our customer in the Artistry Community of Sarasota FL

This project started when a homeowner in a Sarasota, FL community of Artistry asked who had done a beautiful driveway they admired. They were told it was BIC Cleaning and coatings, which led to a call for an estimate. When I arrived I could clearly see the white failed sealer the previous company had applied, and the homeowner wanted a fresh, long-lasting result.

We proposed a full paver restoration and driveway sealing, beginning with a complete strip of the old sealer so we could start fresh. The homeowner approved the estimate and wanted to get on the schedule right away, so we set the project in motion promptly.

The first step on site was applying a commercial sealer stripper to the paver surface. After allowing the stripper to work and then thoroughly pressure washing, the surface cleaned up beautifully and the old failed sealer was removed. With the existing sealer stripped away, we could see and address underlying paver damage accurately.

During the wash down we identified five pavers that had chips and chunks missing. We repaired those five pavers after the cleaning so the surface would be even and stable before any joint work or sealing. Repairing the damaged pavers first ensured the finished look would be uniform across the driveway.

Next we worked on the joints. We used a hydro compacting technique to introduce sand tightly into the paver joints, using water to help settle and compact the sand for a solid interlock. This step is important to lock the pavers in place and reduce future shifting. We followed the hydro compacting with a thorough sweeping the next day to remove any excess sand and to prepare the surface for the sealer.

Once the pavers and joints were fully dry and clean, we applied four coats of a wet look high gloss sealer to the driveway. The multiple coats were applied to achieve the deep, glossy finish the homeowner wanted and to provide a uniform protection layer over the repaired and sanded surface. Four coats on this particular driveway gave the shine and depth requested by the homeowner.
